I've already worked out that my computer monitor uses the same amount of power when the screen saver has blanked the screen as it does when it's fully on and I'm using it; I've changed from the blanking screen saver to using Microsoft's power management to turn the monitor off when I'm "idle" instead and it uses hardly any power. That should save some CO2.
