The Falcon high powered 12V solar electric fence energiser comes with a 10 watt solar panel and is one of the most reliable solar assisted fencing units available.

How it works

The solar panel charges a small internal battery and when this is full will charge a 12V external battery (not supplied). The external battery will power the energiser unless it becomes depleted or is removed.

The solar panel significantly extends the length of time between external battery charges. Length of time between charges will vary throughout the year with variations according to power settings and levels of sunshine.If the external battery runs flat the LED indicator light will turn red and the energiser will draw power from the internal battery until the external battery has been replaced/re-charged.

Internal Battery

Fully charged the internal 12V battery will store enough power (1.7 joules) for 3 to 5 days of use depending on output level (3 days high power, 5 days low power). If it is sunny the run times from the internal battery will be extended as the battery will be re-charged form the solar panel, but for normal use an external 12V battery (not supplied) will be required.

External Battery

We recommend use of a suitable 85Ah (or thereabouts) 12V Deep Cycle leisure/electric fencing/solar battery with the Falcon Solar Electric Fence Energiser.

High/Low Output Levels

Use high output for "training" purposes (usually for 1 week if animals new to electric fencing), for large animals and critical situations. Otherwise the low setting can be selected to help extend battery life between charges.

A warning buzzer will sound if a battery is connected with incorrect polarity.

Earth Spike

The Falcon is designed for powering long lengths of electric fencing and we recommend you use a 1m earth spike to ensure good performance over long distance and/or in dry soil conditions. For shorter runs the Falcon P500S will act as the earth.
