Using a solar panel is an ideal way to extend the period between charges of electric fencing batteries. Often a correctly sized solar panel will completely do away with the need to charge from the mains - particularly in the summer months.

If your vehicle (boat, car, motorbike, van etc) is used irregularly or suffers from battery drain when parked for extended periods, a solar trickle charger will replace lost charge and keep you battery topped up ready for starting duties when required.

 

This 5W solar charger is an ideal size for battery maintenance on all 12V vehicle batteries up to 85Ah capacity. This solar trickle charger will still help to maintain batteries of larger capacity, but to ensure sufficient winter output we suggest our 10W solar charger for batteries over 85Ah.

 

 

We have tested many solar panels over the years and find that BP solar panels always excel in real life battery charging situations. We have tested BP solar panels alongside cheaper Chinese panels of exactly the same wattage in identical test conditions and found that in some case the BP panel delivered twice as much charge to the battery!

 

BP solar panel build quality is also second to none with stronger frames and high quality junction boxes. As we are able to supply the BP solar panels at similar prices to those offered by some retailers for poorer quality panels it would be silly to buy anything else!

 

 

If the 12V battery you are charging is more than 50Ah capacity you do not need to use a solar charge controller (solar regulator) with this 5W solar charger.
